“We believe that social change starts with the individual. The individual is a pebble that makes ripples in the community waters. By working together, we can make waves that will create change that benefits all.” -Julia Childs Andrews

Our Foundation
Anti-Bias Education for Young Children and Ourselves, Louise Derman-Sparks & Julie Olsen Edwards:
“Anti-bias, antiracist (ABAR) education supports all children’s full development in our multiracial, multilingual, multicultural world and gives them the tools to stand up to prejudice, stereotyping, bias, and eventually to institutional ‘isms’.”
(Derman-Sparks, Edwards, 2010)
Excerpt from Anti-Bias Education for Young Children and Ourselves, Louise Derman-Sparks & Julie Olsen Edwards:
Anti-Bias Education Goals
Goal One: Nurture every child's construction of knowledge, confident self- identity and group identity.
Goal Two: Promote each child's comfortable, empathetic interaction with people from diverse backgrounds.
Goal Three: Foster each child's critical thinking about bias.
Goal Four: Cultivate each child's ability to stand up for herself or himself and for others in the face of bias.
(Derman-Sparks, Edwards, 2010)
